A milk-white egg that glows evenly from edge to edge.
Opal glass is the opposite of the faceted and fluted shades — instead of breaking light up, it diffuses it completely, so the whole shade lights as one soft surface with no visible bulb and no glare. A faint fluting runs down the sides, more felt than seen.
Because there is nothing harsh about the light, it is the easiest pendant to put over a bed, a reading chair or a table where people sit facing each other. It also disappears politely into a white ceiling, which is sometimes exactly what a room needs.
