The Vance is a three-seat sofa with a back that sits noticeably lower than most, which is what gives it its long, horizontal look. The seat cushions are deep and squared off, and the base is a slim dark rail that keeps the whole mass a little above the floor.
Leather gives it a firmer, more resolved sit than fabric would — supportive rather than soft, and it settles in with use rather than losing shape. In a pale room it reads as a deliberate dark anchor; in a darker one it simply disappears into the scheme and does its job.
