The whole shade is worked in a raised diamond lattice, closer to cut crystal than to blown glass, tapering to a soft point at the base. Every facet of the quilt catches the bulb separately, so the surface reads as a grid of small bright points rather than one glow.
It is the most decorative of the amber pendants and behaves accordingly — one over a bedside or a console does more than three in a row would. Dim it and the lattice is what you see.
