The headboard is a thick cushioned panel in deep forest green, set down inside a solid oak surround rather than mounted in front of it. Exposed rails run along the sides and rounded posts finish the corners, so the timber stays visible around the upholstery and frames it like a mount around a picture.
Green against pale oak is a warmer pairing than green against black, and it gives the bed a softness that survives being the only large piece in a room.
