Woven in a wide open weave rather than a close one, so this is less a shade than a cage — you can see straight through it to the bulb, and the light it casts is almost entirely pattern. On a plain ceiling it draws a web of shadow several times the width of the fitting itself.
Hang it low over a dining table and it reads as a statement. Hang it high in a room with a plain ceiling and the shadow does the decorating. Either way, fit a soft-glow bulb — with an open weave, the bulb is on show.
