The beads on this one are heavy and the frame is deep, so the rectangle it makes has real presence — corners included, where the beading turns rather than mitres. It is closer to a piece of turned joinery than to a decorative border.
Squaring off a bobbin frame makes it read as more traditional than the round versions, and the red pulls it back the other way. It is large enough to be the main thing on a wall, and it takes greenery well; ivy or a trailing plant beside it softens the weight.
