Hand-woven in a close horizontal weave, the shade is a straight-sided barrel that keeps its shape without a visible frame. Light comes through the weave in fine horizontal bands and spills generously from the open top and bottom — the pattern it throws on a nearby wall is as much the point as the light itself.
Rattan warms up rooms that lean hard and cool: concrete, stone, black metal. It is equally at home in a coastal or a relaxed dining room, and it hangs well over a round table where the drum echoes the shape below.
